Could the Foods You Eat Be Affecting How You Feel?
Food can be a powerful part of your health—but for some people, certain foods may trigger unwanted reactions or symptoms. If you experience bloating, digestive discomfort, fatigue, headaches, skin concerns, or other unexplained symptoms, identifying potential food-related triggers may be an important step toward understanding your health.
We offer food allergy and food sensitivity testing to help provide more information about how your body may be responding to specific foods.
Allergy or Sensitivity—What’s the Difference?
Food Allergy Testing
A true food allergy involves an immune system response that can occur after eating or being exposed to a specific food. Reactions can range from mild to severe and may include hives, swelling, itching, digestive symptoms, or difficulty breathing.
Food allergy testing typically evaluates IgE antibodies associated with immediate-type allergic reactions.
Food Sensitivity Testing
Food sensitivities are different from traditional food allergies and may be associated with delayed or less clearly defined symptoms. Some people report symptoms such as bloating, digestive discomfort, headaches, fatigue, or other changes after consuming certain foods.
Depending on the test, food sensitivity panels may evaluate IgG antibodies to a variety of foods. These results should be interpreted carefully and in the context of your symptoms and medical history, as IgG responses can also reflect normal exposure to foods rather than a clinically significant intolerance.
Why Consider Food Testing?
Testing may be helpful if you are trying to better understand patterns between the foods you eat and how you feel.
You may want to consider testing if you experience:
- Bloating or digestive discomfort
- Gas or changes in bowel habits
- Unexplained fatigue
- Headaches or migraines
- Skin concerns
- Difficulty identifying foods that may trigger symptoms
- Symptoms that seem to occur repeatedly after eating certain foods
- A desire to better understand your individual nutritional and wellness needs
Take the Guesswork Out of Your Diet
Elimination diets can be time-consuming and difficult to manage on your own. Laboratory testing may provide additional information to help you and your healthcare provider determine whether further evaluation or dietary changes may be appropriate.
Our testing options can evaluate reactions to a variety of common foods and ingredients, depending on the panel selected.
Your Results. Your Information. Your Next Step.
Testing is only one piece of the puzzle. Your results should be reviewed alongside your symptoms, medical history, medications, and overall health.
Our team can help you understand your results and identify appropriate next steps based on your individual needs.
